Bubba Watson’s Golf Swing Analysis
Yes from one Wild Man to another, I like Bubba’s swing and I can prove it’s better than you think. So many golf instructors try to sell you on their theory or method for hitting a golf ball. They claim that once you learn how to hit the ball “their way” you’ll be a star!
Then a joker like Bubba or Furyk come along and blow that theory out of the water! Hello!
You need to know what you’re looking at and what you’re looking for in a competitive golf swing. I like to call it elements of risk. I look at a golf swing like an insurance underwriter not the salesman. The insurance salesman is probably apt to sell you an insurance policy even if you have a heart monitor on your belt! I’m the underwriter looking for risk. Could this clown hit the ball in somebody’s yard and break their window and I end up paying for it?
Yes Bubba has some risk factors to consider. Very strong grip, raises his front leg excessively, long back swing BUT he swings the golf club perfectly on plane so the ball is not going to complain about the other short comings mentioned IF he can keep them under control.
Yes some of the risk factors mentioned could make him a bit more inconsistent during the year and cause him to miss the cut at times when he probably shouldn’t have but the risk factors he has also contribute to the tremendous distance he gets off the tee. Hitting over 300 yards on average but he’s 150th on tour in driving accuracy. That tells us that some of the short comings we mentioned are hurting him in that regard.
